    What is Scorching in Crops ?

    1. What is Scorching?
    Scorching is what happens when crop leaves start drying or turning brown from the edges — just like a sunburn. The plant looks dull and weak because it loses its ability to make food properly. If not managed in time, it can badly affect yield.


    2. Why Does Scorching Happen?
    There isn’t just one reason — several stress factors come together:

    • High temperature and dry winds – Hot, dry air pulls out moisture from leaves.

    • Less soil moisture – Roots can’t supply enough water to match the loss.

    • Salt accumulation – Too much salt in soil or irrigation water burns the leaves.

    • Chemical injury – Wrong spray timing or high concentration can cause burns.

    • Root problems – Hard or poorly aerated soil limits water absorption.


    3. How to Prevent Scorching:

    • Keep soil moisture steady with regular irrigation.

    • Use mulching to reduce heat and retain moisture.

    • Avoid spraying fertilizers or chemicals in strong sunlight.

    • Use anti-transpirants or biostimulants to help plants handle stress.

    • Provide balanced nutrition, especially calcium and potassium.
