    The stem is not just a part that holds leaves and fruits. It is the lifeline of the crop. Just like the backbone in the human body, the stem supports overall growth, nutrient flow, and productivity of the plant.

    What is the stem made of?

    The stem is composed of different types of cells, including transport tissues and strengthening components.
    Xylem carries water and nutrients from the roots to the upper parts of the plant.
    Phloem distributes food produced in the leaves to the entire plant.
    Cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin provide strength and rigidity to the stem.
